Playing stylist with Prada

On 27 September 2018 I had the great honour of being invited to the presentation of the Prada FW18 collection at the Brussels store. Apart from the impeccably tailored dresses, gorgeously structured coats and jackets and the timeless Galleria bags and other more contemporary pieces on show, clients had the opportunity to design their own custom-made shoes, complete with personalised sole. My friend Federica and I spent quite a few hours poring over the collection and dreaming up shoe customisations.
The personalised shoes offer was an almost once in a lifetime opportunity as this promotion moves from one city to another and lasts for only a limited amount of time ... and this time, it was Brussels' turn. One could say that the personalisation aspect is holistic as one gets to choose the material (classic or exotic leathers, velour, suede, satin, prints), the heel size and shape, and even the structure of the shoe itself - ballerina, pumps, sandals, ankle boots ... oh, and I can't forget the all important detail of the sole with initial personalisation! Since each pair of shoes is made to order, there is an approximate 2 month wait ... but as my personal shopping assistant kept telling me 'it'd make a perfect gift to self for Christmas!' My heart was was gravitating towards a classic black mid-heel pump, treating this opportunity as a real investment piece which would last a lifetime. Did I finally get it? Well, watch this space (or my Instagram Stories) to find out!
