Marielle, quaintrelle

Updated: Sep 28, 2018

Marielle - (n.) of French origin, a diminutive of Mary; a version of my name
Quaintrelle - (n.) a woman who emphasizes a life of passion, expressed through personal style, leisurely pastimes, charm, and cultivation of life’s pleasures.

As I was making plans on starting my new blog, what I would be writing about, how the layout would be and so on and so forth, I stumbled across this intriguing word on OtherWordly and that was it. The lightbulb moment. The coup de coeur. The title for my blog.

As for the Marielle? Well, those who know me know I'm not usually fond of this iteration of my name - or any other for that matter. But I guess a blog is no better place for poetic licence.

So this is me – Mariel – a quaintrelle – a 30-something who loves getting lost in European cities, spending time with the Old Masters and contemporary rebel rousers of the Art world, while seeking to find a balance between her vegetarian diet and macaron-loving sweet tooth and in the meantime curating a chic, timeless but recognisable personal style.

Welcome to my blog. I hope you enjoy my company.
