It was the 28 March 2016 when I landed in Brussels to start a new life.
I knew more or less what I was in for in terms of work - it was after all a career move that I chose to do myself. Everything else that happened in the last three years, well, who would have thought? There have been changes that were welcome and others that took a while to get used to.
There have been many a train ride to Paris (finding out it's only an hour 20 minutes away was a definite unplanned bonus), as well as other trips to places previous visited and others which weren't. There have been challenges along the way, but most of which I look back and cherish how formative they turned out to be. You know those times where you feel like you're about to break but then you go to sleep and wake up ready to face the world? Starting a new life in a new city just after it was torn apart by cowards does make you question things at times, but I wasn't going to be defeated.
There have been plenty of days spent strolling along the streets of Brussels, exploring its different neighbourhoods, getting lost in its galleries and museums. I have lost count of the steps I registered on my Fitbit, be it rain or shine, just taking in this city.
The photos accompanying this post may not be taken in Brussels but the smile on my face is evidence of how I feel in this city I now call home.
So here's to these three years in Brussels ... and hope for some more!
